Member Spotlight: Jamie Madden

Jamie is the founder and lead developer of WC Vendors Marketplace, the first free multivendor marketplace plugin for WordPress and WooCommerce, launched back in 2014. He has been a developer and systems administrator for nearly 25 years. Jamie started working with WordPress back in the b2Evolution days when he learned of the WordPress project. He started to build websites with WordPress 1.5 before there were custom post types, plugins were new and themes had just been introduced. Over the years he has solved a range of problems with WordPress as the solution including online marketplaces, intranet staff training systems, intranets, dedicated apps and more.

Recently, Jamie joined the WordPress Learn team as a subject-matter expert to share his experience with more people and contribute more to the community. If he’s not working, you’ll find him snowboarding or scuba diving, depending on the time of year.

What do you enjoy most about working in WordPress?

The community and the amount of resources available for new and old users. It’s great to be able to learn and participate in sharing knowledge and experience. Meetups and WordCamps are what make WordPress what it is.

What do you love most about your Post Status membership?

Again, the community and network. The biggest part is being able to discuss with other business owners and developers, small and large, within our industry. The best is when great discussions come out of a simple question you might ask, and learn so much from those threads.

What business/web/WordPress advice do you have for others in our industry?

No matter what your business is, marketing is very important. When you’re first starting, hire earlier than you think. Ensure you have documented all of your processes, so it’s easy when it comes time to hire and hand off. Give back to the communities that help you succeed.
