Member Spotlight: Lana Miro

I’m Lana, 27 years old, but I feel much older :D. Why? I suppose because I attended so may events, offline conferences, and trainings during my university time. So it allowed me to travel abroad, meet new people, and gain much knowledge (mainly about the environment and community influence). Thus, when Covid time came, let me be honest, I was happy to finally rest at home (sounds strange, I know). It helped me understand myself better and deep dive to re-think what I like or don’t; my priorities; how I see my future.

I started my WordPress journey in 2017 with a 3-month student program from TemplateMonster, where they taught us everything about the domain, hosting, templates, plugins, etc. After training, I became an affiliate manager there and helped TemplateMonster to search for new partners, affiliates, and influencers.

I continued my journey with the Crocoblock project (summer 2021) in primarily the same position. My main responsibilities are Affiliate Communication, Partnerships and Blog Management.

I truly love the diversity of my responsibilities because I can’t focus on one monotonous task.

What do you enjoy most about working in WordPress?

Community.

I understood that we should care about the Community at WordPress or/and Crocoblock (20K members) because people help us understand their needs to improve our products.

Sometimes, there is a lot of drama, but I’m focusing less on this and learning at the same time from others’ mistakes.

I truly wish to visit upcoming WordCamp events, but as I’ve mentioned earlier, I also try to care about my mental health. So, I don’t want to leave my country (Ukraine) because I’m not ready yet.

What do you love most about your Post Status membership?

I love the opportunity to follow WordPress news in the Slack community, read real-life examples, learn what agencies are launching/struggling, etc. And the ability to share my information too (but mostly, I’m too shy to communicate anything; trying to change this:D).

What business/web/WordPress advice do you have for others in our industry?

Care about your community and treat people with respect. This is my monthly mantra.
